Developer Tripwire Interactive revealed their First Person Horror sequel Killing Floor III at Gamescom 2023. The title has since received a confirmed launch period of March 2025 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and will feature cross-platform support. Gematsu reports that Austria based media company, PLAION is handling distibution of the physical edition for all platforms; A closed beta test is in the works.
Killing Floor III is set in 2091, where a megacorporation, Horzine has developed an army of bio-engineered creatures known as Zeds. You’ll assume the role as a special forces type member of Nightfall, humanity’s last resistance against the Zeds.
Bryan Wynia, Creative Director of Killing Floor III shares in an interview with PC Gamer some of the themes that influenced the game’s setting “Action horror would be the thing that we focused on from the beginning with Killing Floor III. It was really about science gone wrong. I mean even look at this set, right. As a kid of the eighties and nineties I just loved the dark horse Alien and Predator comics. There are elements there about trying to create biological weapons set in a thematically dystopian themed world so we wanted to tie that in but from Predator and Alien one of things that you see the most is of group of well trained, who have to use every single bullet every single grenade, every single weapon to handle the things that they are being faced with…”
Cooperative play is featured in Killing Floor III and up to six players can play together across platforms. The game features interactive environments and traps. A unique system known as M.E.A.T delivers realistic dismemberment of enemies.
Developer Tripwire are enthusiastic about the upcoming release of Killing Floor III. With the games release within this year and the promised closed beta test it won’t be long til fans get to relive the carnage.
