Killer Instinct 10th Anniversary Event Set For Next Week

It’s absolutely hard to believe this but the 2013 Killer Instinct is about to turn 10 years old! The fighting game, which was a launch title for the Xbox One, has been a continuing mainstay for the fighting game circuit since. While it is no longer utilized in bigger events such as EVO, the community still harbors a deep love for the combo-heavy game. With that in mind, developer Iron Galaxy has announced that they will be hosting a special Killer Instinct 10th anniversary stream and will talk about some big updates for the title.

As stated in the post above, the stream is set to go live next week on Wednesday, November 22 at 1:00 PM PST/4:00 PM EST on their official Twitch channel. During EVO 2023 this past Summer, both Iron Galaxy and Microsoft announced that the title will receive one more big update for its 10th anniversary in order to celebrate the game and the continued support it’s obtained over the past 10 years. While the main part of the update remains a mystery, we do know that it will contain 4K resolution support for the Xbox Series X/Series S, matchmaking upgrades, and some much-needed fighter balancing.

As we stated earlier, Killer Instinct was released in November 2013 as a launch title for the Xbox One. The game was initially developed by Double Helix Games, who entered into an agreement with Microsoft to make it an Xbox-exclusive title. Following their acquisition by Amazon, Microsoft announced that support for the game would continue and would be developed by Iron Galaxy Studios, who at the time was most famous for its parody fighting game Divekick. Iron Galaxy would then release Season 2 and Season 2 for Killer Instinct in 2014 and 2016 respectively, bringing more fighters into the fold. It would eventually make its way to the PC platform in 2016 as well.
