Karaoke Series Returns to PS4 with SingStar Celebration

The SingStar series is returning to PlayStation 4 when the latest karaoke title, SingStar Celebration launches in late October as part of Sony’s growing PlayLink collection of games.

Celebration‘s Oct. 25 release date was announced yesterday on the PlayStation Blog and will be the series’ second PS4 entry and first music game in the small PlayLink library. PlayLink is Sony’s branding for casual, social games that integrate smart devices with select PS4 games, supporting up to eight players depending on the title.

In SingStar Celebration, players will use the SingStar Mic app on their phone or tablet as their microphone, which will be available for Android and iOS when the game releases according to the announcement. However, it is unclear if the app is entirely new or just an update, as the 2015 app of the same name is still available for both operating systems.

Running with the social theme, the title supports PlayStation Camera video capture which players can share on Facebook and Twitter, along with in-game images through the Share button. Although no price was announced, the game’s 30+ song setlist was detailed, sporting popular tracks across various decades.

I imagined that I would someday be creating games, but I've decided video game journalism is my calling.
