In a bit of hilarity after the release of Capcom’s celebration of its 90s Marvel vs Capcom series with the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics last week, it seems that there has been a bit of gatekeeping from the classic oldhead players in the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 portion of the collection as Justin Wong, probably more infamously know as the Wazzler now, and former record setting 7 time Marvel vs. Capcom 2 EVO champion has been hopping online across every available platform and beating new players in the game.

It’s not even Justin playing his main team of Storm, Sentinel, Cyclops. He’s out there beating players with random smatterings of characters suggested by his chat. Even Servbot, by far the weakest character on the roster and possibly one of the weakest fighting game characters of all time has had his moments to shine during Justin’s streams.

It’s gotten so bad that many players are joking about refunding the game after getting “Wazzler’d”, though no doubt some newer players actually refunded the game. This could be a jumping off point of discussion that Capcom should have implemented a better ranked system for the Fighting Collection, as new players in beginner ranks are regularly matched against players with extremely high win scores such as Justin, but that’s a discussion for another time.
In the meantime, it is fun to watch Justin beat up on random players. There are rising concerns that these beatings are legitimately hurting the Fighting Collection however, and during the stream where he played on the Switch port of the Fighting Collection Justin struggled to find other players. This loops back around to the ranking discussion, that a more strict ranking system would make for a smoother experience for players just picking up these 30 year old games for the first time, as they’d play against each other rather than multiple time world champs, but until then at least it’s funny.
Lazy edit. I don’t edit videos. @JWonggg
