Hopefully your setup can handle 4K because this trailer is worth the load time. A new Just Cause 4 trailer dropped earlier this week, and it looks absolutely jaw-dropping in panoramic form. Avalanche Studios takes the opportunity to show off its revamped Apex Engine. If you thought Just Cause 3 was crazy, you’re not wrong; it was a freefall into the bowels of gaming insanity (in a good way), but Just Cause 4 stands to push the envelope. With the updated engine, the game will add new particle effects and extreme weather conditions, highlighted exquisitely by the giant tornado in the trailer.
Another feature coming to the newest installment of Just Cause is the drastically varied climates throughout the fictional South American country of Solis. From lush, green rainforests to harsh, snowy tundra, the trailer bares all, highlighting each with a slew of explosions (for explosion’s sake.) The trailer gets players hyped for the game by showing the very essence of what makes the franchise great: pure unadulterated chaos. After all, what’s the point of upping the engine in a game like this if it doesn’t mean bigger explosions?
In the trailer, we see the lovably sarcastic freedom-fighter, Rico Rodriguez, continuing his carefree stunts such as driving a boat through mine-infested waters, flying a jet sideways through the beams of a bridge, and escaping the bad guys in a dune buggy by floating through the air with tether balloons. Just another day at the office for Rico.
