The 2018 Tokyo Game Show (TGS) is in full swing, as game developers have gathered at the Makuhari Messe (Convention Center outside of Tokyo) to showcase all of their upcoming new IPs and reveal some new ones as well. Bandai Namco hasn’t wasted any time with this, as they have made some more announcements in regards to their upcoming Shonen Jump fighting game, Jump Force. One of these was that the game now has new launch time frame, February 2019.
In addition to this, the company also showed a reveal trailer, announcing that two stalwarts of the Shonen Jump library will join the roster. Yuseke Urameshi and Toguro, the main protaganist and one of the main antagonists from the popular series, Yu Yu Hakusho, respectively. As if this wasn’t enough, Bandai Namco also announced that four new characters will be added to the game. These characters are being made for the game’s story specifically and they will be drawn by one of the greatest manga artists of all time, Akira Toriyama, who is known for creating arguably the most popular series of all time, Dragon Ball, as well as being a longtime character designer for the video game series Dragon Quest. The characters, Glover, Navigator, Galena, and Kane, will all serve a special role in the game’s narrative. The trailer also shows Killua and Kurapika from the Hunter X Hunter series, who were announced yesterday.
The reveals didn’t stop there, as Bandai Namco also announced a Season Pass for the game, which will include 9 more fighters that have yet to be revealed. On top of all of this, a Collectors Edition of the game was also revealed, and it caters big time to the Shonen Jump fans. The Collectors Edition houses a physical copy of the game, the aforementioned Season Pass, a steelbook for the game, three art boards with Goku, Naruto, and Luffy, and a 30cm tall statue of those three characters.
With all of this announced in just the past couple of days, Jump Force is looking more and more like the Shonen Jump All-Star Fighter that we’ve been dreaming about since we were children. There is still some time before the game is released, so expect Bandai Namco to make even more announcements to this already epic roster. Jump Force has a tentative release for February 2019, and will launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
