It looks like everyone’s favorite outspoken developer is already working on his next project. Josef Fares, the founder and creative director of Hazelight Studios, has teased the studios’ next project. Fares made the tease on his personal twitter account in the form of a post with a picture that shows himself, and two unnamed people in motion capture outfits. In typical Fares fashion, no concrete information about this new IP was disclosed, but the video game community is already teaming with excitement over this new title.
The only thing to go off of here is that there are in fact two people in the mocap outfit, which could allude to yet another two-player style game. This would also make sense as this is Fares’ specialty. Since this is also Fares we’re dealing with, it’ll probably be a while until we hear anything concrete in regards to this new project. This will be Hazelight’s third title in their catalogue, with previous entry, It Takes Two, being one of the most critically acclaimed titles of 2021, which culminated with a major win at The Game Awards 2021 for Game of the Year.
As we already mentioned, Fares is no stranger to co-op gameplay, as his other two titles also focus on this aspect. His first official title, 2013’s Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, was critically acclaimed and is often used as a prime example for video game’s as a form of art. His second title, Hazelight’s No Way Out, was also generally well received when it released in 2018. Just prior to this, Fares became an overnight sensation when he went on a passionate, and hilarious tirade in 2017 at The Game Awards. Hs latest title, It Takes Two, has become a sensation, selling more than 5 million copies in the process.
