Doom co-creator John Romero (or quite possibly known more by his easter egg as the final boss in Doom II when using ‘no clipping’ mode) has released a new free level for the iconic shooter. This marks 21 years since he had last touched level creation.
Romero officially released it to the public on his Facebook and Twitter which can be be seen below.
It's been 21 years since I made a DOOM level. Here's my version of E1M8 using DOOM1.WAD. https://t.co/ueKM7gBbXd pic.twitter.com/NlmA9aIALN

E1M8 refers to the eight and final level of the original Doom‘s first episode ‘Phobos Anomaly’, which is quite a small map featuring a boss battle against two Barons of Hell. The level files can be downloaded from Dropbox.
A Doom reboot is releasing this year for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A new game in the series has not been released since 2004’s Doom III.
