Recently, we learned that Apex Legends would be releasing content very soon that targeted the most fan-requested feature ever since the game launched back in February. Many speculated multiple outcomes but there seemed to be one in particular that seemed the most likely, and sure enough, solo play will be implemented into Apex Legends giving fans the chance to test their wits without the backup of their teammates. This mode will be available August 13th, but the catch, it will only be for a limited time currently.
Next week, only one can reign. 👑

Apex Legends has officially confirmed solo play will come to the game as part of The Iron Crown Collection Event. Players will break away from teams of 3 which is currently the only way Apex can be played. The trailer shows the player’s squadmates disappearing leaving one left standing. Combatants will no longer have the backup of their squad and will have to fend for themselves to be victorious. The mode will currently only take place during the event but that is not to say the mode won’t be a permanent feature in the future. It looks like developers at Respawn have already visited the Reddit community and posted this, “On 8/13 we’ll be trying out a Solos Mode in Apex for a limited time,” a dev posted on the Apex Legends subreddit. “We’ll talk more about Solos when it’s live and you’ve had a chance to play it. For now we’re going to put it out there and see what happens and what kind of feedback we get.”
This makes it look like Respawn are using this as a sort of trial period to see how the mode works and if any tweaks may need implementation to make it a balanced experience. Naturally, solos is going to behave very differently than squads and there may be certain legends who are much stronger for solo play. Players may see a huge influx of the same legend being played in solos because of this.
Not a whole lot more info has been released about the event as of today, but we can expect to see it drop on August 13th and stick around till August 27th. Apex Legends is a free to play title and is available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
