After the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), fans are excited about the upcoming update. Not only is there a possibility of the new hero addition, Muerta, being released. But, a few days ago, there was a Reddit leak stating that new items were added to the game. SunsFanTV and SynderNDota, notable DOTA 2 commentators, go in depth about what these items might be in their podcast We Say Things.
The biggest leaked items are Samurai Tabi, Hermes Sandals, Witches Switch, Lunar Crest, Phylactery, Disperser and Harpoon. One of the biggest items that stand out is the Harpoon. In the demo hero function, you can type “-item harpoon” and receive an item in your neutral slot. Originally from the arcade mode, “DOTA 2 But Boosted”, the Harpoon item did not exist in the game files. Meaning it couldn’t be accessed outside of the arcade.
The functions of the Harpoon are very similar to Pudge’s hook. However, instead of being a skill shot, the item allows you to attack the enemy to bring them closer to you. According to esports.gg, the Harpoon slows the enemy after reeling them in and does not pierce spell immunity. Because the item can work on attack projectiles, heroes like Sniper or Drow Ranger can use Telescope or Dragon Lance to increase attack distance.
Being unconfirmed to be in the next patch, there is some skepticism on why the icon is the same as Drow Ranger’s Arcana which changes the Hurricane Pike icon. Although, it could potentially be an icon placeholder.
More leaked items covered by Hyper Game, include changes to existing items. Like increasing the cost of Cloak but decreasing the cost of Glimmer Cape. While adding items that were removed from the game, Iron Talon and Iron Wood Tree. It is unclear whether or not these items will be added to the game as well as the release of the 7.33 patch.
