Invincible, the hit comic series which saw its own animated series, is getting its first-ever video game. Ubisoft is partnering with Skybound to create a video game based off the comic series. Last year, Skybound teased it was in the process of making a video game associated with the Invincible franchise. Invincible saw a lot of success with the animated series and now it is ready to branch off into the video game sector. Invincible co-creater Robert Kirkman was quoted saying,”Invincible being a multi-hero narrative, I love that we’ve made the game into a multiplayer RPG and that you can fight numerous battles simultaneously. Ubisoft did an incredible job seamlessly recreating Invincible for the small screen.” As of now, there is no release date for the game but Ubisoft has stated the game will release soon. Those interested in the upcoming game can join the pre-registration list on Ubisoft’s website.
Unfortunately, the game will not be for pc or consoles. The game will instead be available for iOS and Android and is entitled: Invincible Guarding the Globe. It is a free-to-play squad-based RPG and it comes from Ubisoft’s Barcelona Mobile studio. Although the game is entitled Invincible: Guarding the Globe, players will not be playing as Invincible himself.
Instead of piloting Invincible himself, players can recruit, manage and deploy heroes to defend against criminal attacks on various locations across the planet. Apparently, the crimes you fight against are all committed by and supported by clones of Invincible. Each squad member that you control has a unique role on the battlefield. These roles include attacker, defender and support. The player must decide which roles to prioritize and deploy as you fight in “blood-soaked” fights.
With regards to the roster of heroes you get to choose from, is the titular hero himself, Atom Eve, Omni-Man, Robot, and Rex Splode. This list of heroes also includes the Guardians of the Globe.
