One of the most anticipated titles of 2023 is easily Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Set for a late 2023 release, Insominac’s fully-fledged sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed PlayStation 4 titles of all time has set themselves a rather high bar, so much so that any little aspect is apparently being looked at with a fine-tooth comb. While promoting Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PC on Twitter, the company was asked by someone if the upcoming PlayStation 5 title would have any co-op modes. Surprisingly, Insomniac answered with a straightforward answer, “Nope! It is an epic single-player adventure!”

This response is both a revelation and predictable at the same time. At an event last Summer called SacAnime, the voice actor for Miles Morales, Nadji Jeter, teased that co-op had a potential possibility of making it into the game. This initially set up some fans to expect the feature to be implemented into the game, which also more than likely prompted the question on Twitter. While this would’ve been an interesting aspect to the series, it’s also not very surprising that Insomniac immediately shot down this idea as the Spider-Man series that they have been crafting up until this point is very much geared towards a single-player experience.
It’s hard to believe but it’s been nearly two years since the developer and Sony initially unveiled Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and ever since then the studio has been fairly quite on certain details about the title. With Sony set to have their PlayStation Showcase tomorrow, there’s a strong possibility that we’ll find out more about the title’s features, story, and hopefully a more concrete release date. Let’s also not forget that Insomniac is also working on another Marvel character IP, Wolverine, which is currently shaping up to be one of the few Marvel titles with an M rating.
