Insomniac Sets Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus Release for Early 2024

Insomniac Games has announced on their Twitter that the next update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which will include features like New Game+, audio descriptions, and mission replays. A list of all the new features will be available closer to the update’s launch.

The full statement from the developers is below.

“Hey Web-Heads,

We have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more. We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards.

We are now targeting Early 2024 for the next game update, and we’ll have a feature-complete list closer to its release. We’ve heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colors, and replay missions – just to name a few!

We can’t wait to share more with you in the future. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as our team works to finish our next update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2!

Thanks,
Insomniac Games”

Along with the major addition of a New Game+ mode, it would seem that the update is also adding some minor aesthetic and quality-of-life improvements, such as changing the time and the symbiote color.

Though the lack of these features from the start was disappointing, it did not hinder the game’s success, as it became the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios title after it launched earlier this year.

This update came a day after the studio was reportedly targeted by ransomware group, who have threatened to release screenshots of their upcoming Wolverine game and employee data. Insomniac themselves have not commented on the leak, so it seems as though they want to keep the focus on their games.
