In August Pine Places Humans At The Bottom of The Food Chain

What would have happened to the world if humans never reached the top of the food chain? The development teams at Twirlbound and Kongregate will try to answer that question when Pine releases. These creators are looking to continue their success after winning at the 2016 Unity Awards and earning a nomination at the Dutch Games Awards that same year. The open-world, action title that they’re working towards takes place in a simulated world with stunning visuals in the works that puts the needs of a human tribe at the forefront that is struggling just to survive. The latest footage shown was the trailer released when it was announced that Pine would be coming to the Switch.

In the gorgeous world of Albamare, players will take ahold of young Hue and learn the best avenues to trade, explore, and battle the creatures who are “much smarter than humans.” Pine will introduce a land full of puzzles and numerous collectibles where an entire ecology of species will compete over territories. These creatures can become enormous threats or useful aids in aspects of trading and questing.

Not only must players help the remaining humans find a new home for their group, but they must do so keeping in mind that they are the last remaining tribe of humans on the entire island. This is made difficult by our species’ vulnerability and the constantly evolving world that is affected more so by the dominant creatures. So instead of having an edge in hunting, humans will need to be more clever by stealing their food or forcing them to abandon their habitat altogether. And when one species moves another is affected across the “ecological spectrum.”

Pine has no set release date, but the developers are hoping for its launch later this year in August for the Nintendo Switch, Steam store, and Kartridge.
