Immortals of Aveum is currently the most anticipated release from EA Originals. First announced at the Game Awards 2022, the game was described as a first-person magical shooter. Four months later, EA released additional information about their new project.
Along with developer Ascendant Studios, EA Originals posted an official reveal trailer for Immortals of Aveum. The trailer was put out across their social platforms this morning. It offered insights into the game’s story, gameplay, environment, and more.
While EA is the publisher of Immortals of Aveum, Ascendant Studios is developing the project. On development, Ascendant CEO and Game Director Bret Robbins commented, “I’m incredibly excited to finally show the world Immortals of Aveum. It’s been a five-year journey for us at Ascendant, and I’m so proud of the team and their commitment to making something great. We set out to create a cinematic, thrilling shooter set in a new fantasy world, with fast and fluid combat and an epic story. I can’t wait for everyone to play it.”
EA also expressed excitement about the game’s potential:
“EA Originals champions individuals and teams who have disruptive creative visions for their games,” said Jeff Gamon, General Manager of EA Partners. “Ascendant had us hooked when we saw how they had woven magic so seamlessly through fast-paced FPS combat, set against an action-packed story we just wanted to keep reading. Bret built an incredibly talented team whose unrelenting passion for creating original, AAA games, deep lore and telling imaginative new stories is on full display in Immortals of Aveum.”
Immortals of Aveum centers around Jak, an individual known as an Unforeseen – someone who unexpectedly manifests magical abilities later in life. He’s recruited to join an elite order of battlemages, where he fights in mankind’s endless war for the control of magic. The game combines a modern story within a fantasy setting, featuring fast-paced action and spell-based combat that defies FPS conventions.
Immortals of Aveum is scheduled to release this summer on July 20th. It will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via EA App, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
