In the light of the Black Live Matter movement, Humble has launched bundle that consists of 49 Steam games and 24 books (written by black authors and more) for the price of $30 USD (if bought separately the price would be over $1,000 USD). 100% of the proceeds go towards fighting racial injustice, with the donations going towards the NAACP Legal Defence Fund, Race Forward, and The Bail Project (even allowing buyers to choose how they want their money to be split up between the three).
For supporting this cause buyers are able to get games as high a caliber as Bioshock Remastered and NBA 2k20, along with many other popular games (along with smaller indie games as well). These games featured can also be redeemed and played on Steam after purchasing. The book selection features 12 Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, The Man Who Cried I Am by John A. Williams, Black Women in Science: A Black History Book for Kids, The Book of Awesome Black Americans, and many more. Along with this large book selection, buyers will also get different selections of manga and comic books added into their bundle as well. Alone, people are able to donate any amount they want, but like mentioned before there has to be a minimum of $30 USD donated to receive anything.
This is not the first time a gaming distributor has set up a bundle of games to support those fighting and protesting the cause for racial equality in the US. Itch.io’s Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, although now ended, was able to raise over $8.1 million USD that was split between a number of charities and legal funds. This bundle does, however, only last a week and ends on June 23rd, 2PM ET/11 AM PT. At the time of this writing, The Bundle for Racial Justice has already raised over $1.6 million USD.
