Honkai: Star Rail, currently in the middle of its anniversary patch, is about to add another 5 star character to the game – Aventurine. Aventurine has been a major component of Star Rail‘s new 2.0 storyline on the planet of Penacony. Players had the opportunity to play as Aventurine during the story that was added in this update. Those who enjoyed the story quest will finally have the chance to have Aventurine for their account next week, with his banner coming out Apr. 16th on the North American server.
Aventurine is an Imaginary element shielder following the path of Preservation but adopts an aggressive approach to sustaining the team. In preparation for this release, Hoyoverse has released a preview to better acquaint players with his kit.
Aventurine’s technique is a random one-in-three value for a defense boost at the start of battle. The technique can be used multiple times, with the highest value being the one that is used. His basic attack deals single target damage. His skill is a shield for all characters that can be stacked. This shield gives effect resistance and allows Aventurine to resist one crowd control effect every number of turns.
Every time this shield is hit, Aventurine gains a stack of ‘Blind Bet.’ After gaining enough stacks, he unleashes a multi-hit follow up attack, with each one hitting a random target. This talent is also boosted by abilities that can be unlocked as players level Aventurine levels up.
Aventurine’s ultimate is a single target attack that gives him a random number of Blind Bet points. It also puts a debuff on the enemy that increases the critical damage of attacking allies when attacking the debuffed enemy.
Aventurine’s follow up attack and ultimate make him a more offensive support than most other premium sustains in the game. Aventurine is shaping up to be a great support for follow up attack teams, but as a sustain character he’ll definitely be useful for any teams that need a good defensive option.
