Housemarque Covers Their New Game Saros at The Game Awards 2025

The studio behind what was arguably one of the first triple-A roguelites, Returnal, has just released a pre-order trailer that delves into their next game, Saros, which is coming in 2026. HouseMarque’s previous success in creating a bullet-hell will be utilized again for Saros, which looks to evoke the same high-stakes gameplay and cerebral storytelling the studio demonstrated mastery of.

The trailer for the game showcases silhouettes of grizzled characters, tense cinematics and sneaks in glimpses of the new, probably equally messed-up sci-fi world of Saros, Carcosa. The tentacled eldritch-looking monsters, putrid, eclipsed skies, and god-like creatures present here are extremely reminiscent of Bloodborne, except this time you’ll be handed high tech weaponry instead of a rusting saw. There’ll also be some star talent here; the protagonist Arjun Devraj will be voiced by Rahul Kohli, famed for his role in The Fall of the House of Usher. Although this title doesn’t look to be a huge departure from Housemarque’s record, according to the devs on the game’s website:

After Returnal we knew we had created something special and award-winning, but we also knew we wanted Returnal to stand on its own. With this in mind, we decided to create a new IP which evolves our deep third-person action and mysterious storytelling.

Saros will release as a PS5 exclusive on April 30th of next year.

Julian Ebert: Although I graduated with a major in film, video games hold a special place in my heart. I love games with atmosphere, immersion, and tense gameplay loops, so my favorite games gravitate toward horror and survival shooter greats like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the Resident Evil series. When I’m not enjoying one of those, I like to read science fiction and check movies off of my “to watch” list.
