When Australian indie game developer House House released the trailer for its upcoming game, Untitled Goose Game back in October of 2017, the gaming community was captivated by the obvious charm and uniqueness of the title. Though the game remained one of the most anticipated titles in an era where independent games are highly celebrated, gamers were left waiting for a release date beyond “early 2019”.
Unfortunately, they might have to wait some more. In a recent tweet by the developers, they stated that due to “circumstances beyond their control”, the title will be delayed until an equally ambiguous “later in 2019”. It’s unclear what “later” really means in this case, as that can range anywhere from mid to even late-2019.
In the humorous video that accompanies the tweet, the mischievous goose walks up to the “Coming early 2019” sign and takes away the middle word, and the replacement becomes the “later”. Though the news itself is disappointing, this brand of humor that reflects the overall premise of the game is reassuring to see. Of course, if this ends up resulting in a more polished and higher-quality game, then there should be no complaints.
A bit of news: due to circumstances beyond our control — see video — our goose game will not be arriving until later in 2019. This means we’ll be able to make the best goose game possible! Thanks for your patience — we’ll get this goose to you as soon as we can. pic.twitter.com/8BqbYw0wQb

Untitled Goose Game is a stealth-based game where players take control of a belligerent goose that seeks to wreak as much havoc as possible in a 3D environment, all the while escaping the grasps of the villagers it terrorizes. Players pass stages by completing various tasks as the goose, whether that be interacting with the NPCs that respond to this unwanted behavior or messing with objects strewn about the stages. Similar to other indie games, the aesthetic of Untitled Goose involves low-poly models and a distinct lack of textures overall. It’s a charming take on a simple premise.
Untitled Goose Game is set to launch for the Nintendo Switch and PC later in 2019. For a better look at the gameplay, check out the video below:
