Horizon Zero Dawn Suffering From Opening Cinematic Crashes

Since Horizon Zero Dawn’s release earlier this week most people have come to the same solution, the game is simply amazing. But sadly, for some, the game will crash while in its opening cinematic scenes. Guerrilla games is aware of the issue and has come up with a small fix for the issue but will be working on an update for a more permanent solution.

The team took to Reddit the other day to talk to the players suffering from the issue and offer up a potential solution for the problem. The solution, while potentially helpful, sounds like a huge inconvenience, take a look at the complete Reddit post below:

“Following up on our message from yesterday, we are aware that a small number of users are suffering a crash during cinematic sequences when playing Horizon: Zero Dawn, most notably in the opening cinematic. We are investigating the issue with the highest priority. In the meantime, we believe we have a potential, temporary workaround for users that play the game from Blu-ray disc. Please note that these steps may not solve the issue for all the users.”

Below this you can find the step by step instructions on hat to do, which doesn’t sound fun at all.

Step-by-step:

· After the game has crashed please restart your PS4.

· After your PS4 has restarted, leave the Horizon Zero Dawn disc in the PS4 for 2 hours while the PS4 is powered on and idle.

· Then start the game again.

After all this, there is no sure way that players will even see the cinematic intro. To fix this, the developer has allowed the intro movie to be replayed from the main menu of the game. To do this, players need to simply got the the “extras” tab and then go to “Intro Movie”.

As of now there is no way of knowing how widespread the issue is and when a fix will become available. Horizon Zero Dawn is currently out now on PS4, say tuned later on for a review roundup to hear what the industry professionals feel about the game as a whole.
