HoYoverse has recently announced that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4, known as For the Sun is Set to Die, will officially release on July 2nd. Simultaneously, HoYoverse has confirmed the speculated collaboration with the Fate series in a press release.

Version 3.4 will resume the main story after the Chrysos Heirs raced against time to help the Trailblazer and Phainon return the final Coreflame to the Vortext of Genesis. Amphoreus’ secrets are expected to be exposed at the dawn of the Era Nova. Phainon will also be joining the main story as a playable character.

Phainon was born in Aedes Elysiae and was among one of the first Chrysos Heirs that aided the Trailblazer when they first arrived in Amphoreus. As the situation has gotten more dangerous, Phainon has continuously asserted himself as a shield of the people which disguising his great burden, which is to be revealed.

Phainon’s gameplay mechanics will revolve around the accumulation of a resource known as Coreflames. Coreflames can be accumulated through the use of different abilities and gameplay interactions. Once enough Coreflames are gathered, he will be able to unleash an ultimate, which causes him to transform and fight enemies on the battlefield alone. His passive skill will also increase the technique point cap of the entire team making adventuring easier.

The combined cinematic and gameplay trailer showcases new scenery, the return of Penacony, and a character that looks like March 7th fading from existence. Firefly even has her new skin teased, which is called Spring Missive. Even more shocking to the audience is the appearance of both Archer and Saber from the Fate/Stay Night collab.

The collab will be worked into the story through Old Oti, the head of the Alfalfa Family. Trailblazer will receive an invitation back to Penacony, where the Holy Grail War will take place. Characters such as Aventurine, Mr. Boothill, and Miss Robin will also appear as contestants. While not in the trailer, Lancer will also be joining Saber and Archer in the Holy Grail War special collab story. Importantly, only Archer and Saber will be playable, with Lancer only being a part of the event.

A minor quality of life change will also be added, which will allow players to skip dialogue in the game. The collaboration is set to begin on July 11th and last until the end of Version 3.6, in which Archer will be given away for free.
