Honkai, the ever-expanding universe under the miHoYo umbrella, from Honkai Impact 3rd, Honkai: Star Rail, to now Honkai: Nexus Anima. The universe continues to grow with each iteration, and on June 22nd, miHoYo dropped two videos for Honkai: Nexus Anima, one being a teaser trailer while the other a gameplay showcase. Each one showcases the world of the game, its characters, and creature companions: The Nexus Anima. Pokémon’s pocket monsters heavily inspire the game, and its premise is “a creature-collecting adventure strategy game in the Honkai series,” which is cool. Along with these two videos, we also got a date for the game’s closed Beta: July 9th. If you want to be part of the development process, you can sign up now, as you have until July 3rd.
In the Evolution Teaser, we got a good look at the city where the game will take place, and if you’re familiar with Honkai: Star Rail, the game looks very familiar, with even an easter egg of the Astral Express train in the city itself. We also get a good look at the cast of characters with fan favorites returning, such as Kiana from Honkai Impact and Blade from Honkai: Star Rail. We also get a good look at some of the Nexus Anima, and they evolve as they do battle, which is cool. A lot of it is still early, but you can sign up for the Beta right now. You have until July 3rd.
And now on to the gameplay showcase, and this is where all the meat and potatoes are for this new showcase. We get a good look at the city as it evolves over time as they develop the game, with the graphics being overhauled and the city coming to life. We get a good look at the characters, how they move and interact, and the biggest standout is the Nexus Anima themselves. As they work similarly to that of Pokémon, you can ride, play, and interact with them all over the city, and as you roam the city itself, you can see the Anima going about their lives in the city, eating, playing, and living life. We get a good look at the gameplay, and it lives up to its “creature-collecting adventure strategy game in the Honkai series.” Customize your teams and do battle with other Nexus Anima, team up with characters to do special moves, and you can even level up the Anima to evolve them. There are also raid bosses, as showcased when they took on Blade and his Anima. Over time, the boss will evolve and become harder, making the game more difficult and strategic.
It’s been over a year since Honkai: Nexus Anima was announced back during Honkai: Star Rail’s 2nd anniversary last year. And we haven’t got much, but it looks like they are ready to share more and are looking for people to help further the game, as there is going to be a closed beta for the game on July 9th, so you can sign up now, and you have until July 3rd to register. The Beta will take place on mobile and PC, so make sure your devices are up to date and upgraded.
