Homelander Comes to Mortal Kombat 1 Equipped With Breast Milk in the Latest DLC Teaser

Mortal Kombat has a weird history with DLC characters. While they’ll pull from their own long history of storied characters their guest characters, of which there are usually many, tend to have a them. In Mortal Kombat X it was horror characters: Jason, Alien, Predator and others all showing up to the party. In Mortal Kombat 11 it was 80s action heroes with Terminator, Robocop, and Rambo taking roster slots. Now, in Mortal Kombat 1 it looks like superheroes are going to be the running trend. It makes sense, since Netherrealm Studios is also the mind behind the DC Comics Injustice series, so joining the MK1 roster is Superman satire character Homelander.

It’s just a short teaser, but there are some interesting things to parse here. For one, it looks like this portrayal is entirely based on the HBO adaptation of The Boys breast milk and all, with no real reference to Homelander’s powers or fights from Garth Ennis’ original comic, which is in line with fellow live action adaptation guest star Peacemaker. Similar to Peacemaker being mocapped and voiced by John Cena it looks like Homelander will have a similar performance by Anthony Starr retaining his role from HBO’s The Boys.

Also, many people might miss her because she’s such a minute part of the trailer, but little Ferra is looking to be the next DLC Kameo available to players. Making her debut in Mortal Kombat X as part of duo character Ferra/Torr it looks like Ferra is now a solo act, turning her assist partner into a mini Torr as she jumps on their back to assist.

The Ermac patch did a lot to heal the Mortal Kombat community a bit after a few months of disappointment, so the future is hopefully very bright for a fighting game scene that often has to claw its way to respect and the spotlight in the fighting game community. If you’re looking forward to playing as Homelander then keep your eyes peeled, he’ll be released sometime in Spring 2024.
