Hogwarts Legacy Delayed On PS4 and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch Release Date Revealed

As 2022 draws to a close Hogwarts Legacy announces another delay for the game on certain platforms. The announcement came early today on Twitter by the game’s official Twitter account, stating that PS4 and Xbox One users will now have to wait until April 4, 2023, to play the game. Alongside the delay, the long-awaited Nintendo Switch release date for Hogwarts Legacy was announced later in the year on July 25th, 2023.

Shortly after that, Chandler Wood, Community Manager at Avalanche Software, clarified that PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC users will keep to the game’s previous release date on February 10, 2023. There was no explicit reasoning for the delay this time around, only that they needed more time.

This is the latest of the delays throughout Hogwarts Legacy’s development. Due to how massive the Harry Potter franchise is, the pressure has been mounting on the developers at Avalanche Software to curate the quintessential Hogwarts experience for players to enjoy. However, time continues to be a challenge for Hogwarts Legacy as the controversial nature of the series creator J.K. Rowling has caused much of the initial excitement for the game to die down.

The delays will also affect Hogwarts Legacy Collectors and Deluxe Editions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Both will release at the same time as the game’s Standard Edition on April 4, 2023. The Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and PC will be available on February 7, including 72 hours of Early Access.
