Agent 47 is back, much to the surprise of everyone who thought that once Square dropped IO the Hitman franchise would die away. However IO, now operating as an independent developer seems to have few tricks up its sleeves, the news that they kept ownership of the Hitman IP was welcome news for fans of the series. The Game of the Year edition will include tweaks to gameplay, bug fixes, improvements for the XBox One X, and new content.
The new content will include three new costume and weapons sets; the clown and bat, the raven suit and Seiger 300 ghost, and finally the cowboy suit and the striker. New content doesn’t end at a few outfits and weapons, good news for the purist who wants to tackle the game with nothing but the signature suit and twin ballers. A new four mission Campaign, known as “Patient Zero” will also be coming, spanning the Bangkok, Colorado, Hokkaido and Sapienza locations. IO offered this synopsis of the new campaign:
After the routine elimination of a target, a contingency plan to unleash a global pandemic is triggered and Agent 47 must race against the clock to prevent a virus from spreading.
In other huge news, Elusive Targets are making a return in November. Originally IO had stated that once an Elusive Target’s time was up, they were gone forever, with the Game of the Year Edition coming out, we’ll once again be able to delve into the hunt and track down targets that we missed before, adding new gameplay objectives and opportunities to an already robust game.
Available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, Hitman GOTY Edition (digital) will cost $59.99. For those who already own Hitman Season One, on disk or as a digital copy, they will be able to upgrade to the GOTY content for $19.99. Hitman Game of the Year Edition is set to release November 7th.
