Hit RPG Disco Elysium Heading to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Next Year

ZA/UM just released their first game, Disco Elysium, on PC via Steam and GOG just a few short weeks ago. The game released to critical acclaim across the board, and currently sits at 90 on Metacritic. Now, it has been revealed that ZA/UM is planning to bring the game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at some point next year. Thus, console players who have heard all the acclaim only have to wait a few months to try the game for themselves.

The announcement of the console port of Disco Elysium comes from the game’s lead designer Robert Kurvitz during an interview with The Escapist. Kurvitz told The Escapist, “The immediate plan, and this is why I won’t go on a holiday anytime soon, is to get Disco Elysium to as many people as possible.” He would then continue by stating ZA/UM will be handling the port themselves. “We’re going to port it next year to PlayStation and Xbox. We need to be very hands-on with the design of that. We don’t want to hire a porting company. We think it really is going to lend itself very well to console play because you don’t need to go over minute tactics and use a mouse because it’s very narrative in its nature.”

Disco Elysium, itself, is a open world detective RPG inspired by classic tabletop and computer RPGs. Players control an amnesic detective as they try to solve a murder in the Martinaise district of the city Revachol. Instead of combat, the game has a heavy focus on dialogue with NPCs as you try to piece together your investigation. For those interested in the acclaimed Disco Elysium, you can play it now on PC or wait until some time next year for the release of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
