Hideo Kojima’s Latest Project Canceled

Hideo Kojima, the director behind the widely popular game Death Strandingconfirms that his next project got rejected, along with the fact that he is not working on the next Silent Hill or Metal Gear. In an interview with Livedoor News (translated by VGC), Kojima was asked about the next big releases from him since the wide success of Death Stranding. His response confirms that there was a major project in the works, but it was scrapped. Other than this, no other information about this project has been revealed. As he states his disappointment, he also mentions that these kinds of things happen in the video game industry.

I can’t say anything since it’s still in the planning stages, but we’re doing various work behind the scenes. Just recently, a big project fell apart, so I’m a bit upset about that.

The only word about the Kojima Studio’s next project was when the director himself revealed that he was interested in making something not relating to games. This led to rumors that his next project will be related to the Silent Hill or Metal Gear franchises (especially since the rumors of Kojima Production wanting to gain the rights to the Metal Gear Solid franchises).

Despite the loss of whatever his next biggest project was, leaks of a two new Silent Hill games have already spread around social media, making people wonder if he is the hand behind both of them. In the same interview, he also alludes to the fact that he has plans “to work on multiple game projects, one of which would be a ‘big’ game.” At the same time he says this, he also confirms that he is working on another project, saying that it is still in the early planning stages and that he cannot say much about it as of now.
