Blizzards online MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, is receiving a brand new 1920’s themed event. Dubbed The Scarlet Heist, the company is touting this as their special Fall Event, and this one is going all in with the gangster motif. As with previous events, The Scarlet Heist will include new skins that correlate with a unique aesthetic, as well as having players complete challenges for other rewards.

According to Blizzard’s PTR Patch Notes page, the backdrop for this is about Orphea and Junkrat pulling off a heist in the Scarlet Monastery Casino, where the criminal mob boss, Whitemane, runs her organization. Using the High Inquisitor absolutely makes sense, as Whitemane is infamous as the leader of the overbearing Scarlet Crusade in World of Warcraft. As we stated earlier, challenges will come in the form of a giant Quest where you’ll need to complete them in online matches, or against the A.I.
Each time you complete a challenge you’ll be rewarded with a portrait, spray, mount, or one of the new skins for either Whitemane, Orphea, Sgt. Hammer, and Junkrat. Once the full Quest is finished, you’ll get the event-exclusive Royal Getaway Sidecar mount. This is similar to the previous event, MechaStorm II, where the final reward was a brand new exclusive skin for Mecha Tyrael, as there was, and still is, no other way to obtain it.
Despite having the development scaled back significantly, as well as completely canceling it’s esport league in the process, Heroes of the Storm is still strongly supported by it’s developers and their community. In the past year, Blizzard has introduced their second original character from the Nexus, Qhira, reworked the Rank/Unranked system for a more friendly approach, and continued to maintain the game in general.
With BlizzCon 2019 coming very soon, we may be in store for some more reveals. Hopefully, more Heroes and maps to play on, as well as the always entertaining events. The Scarlet Heist will commence next week on September 24, Tuesday and will run all the way through December 3, Tuesday. The event will be available as a preview on the games PTR (Public Testing Region) server starting today.
Heroes of the Storm is free to play through Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher. You can check out the announcement trailer here:
