Hermen Hulst Spills Details on PlayStation 5 Exclusives

In an interview with Playstation Blog, Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, spoke about PlayStation 5 exclusives, and his vision for future releases. We know already the kinds of titles PlayStation is known to produce, with games like UnchartedGod of War, and countless Quantic Dream releases. With so much speculation surrounding exclusive launch titles, Hulst sheds light on the approach WorldWide Studios is taking with their next-gen games.

It can be expected that the narrative-heavy games we’ve seen from PlayStation will continue, with Hulst saying “… We’re very committed to quality exclusives. And to strong narrative-driven, single-player games.” This style has been super successful for Sony, not just sales-wise, but in terms of fan reaction and countless critical accolades. This won’t stop them from venturing into new avenues and exploring different changes. He goes on to say “At the same time, we’re going to be very open to experimentation, to new ideas. Just trying things out to see what works. I think that’s also very much part of the DNA of Worldwide Studios.” He says the company is hard at work right now and he is excited to share more details about these projects when the time comes.

Hulst also cleared the air about PC crossover talks and confirmed that Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition would be coming to PC. However, there is still no planned release date. He says more information on this will be coming from the game’s studio, Guerilla, in the near future. Hulst goes on to say “…Releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC.” They are still fully committed to dedicated software.

Hulst also talks about the recent release of the game Dreams and PlayStation’s newest venture into the world of film. Read the full interview here.
