Hello Kitty Island Adventure Releases For Nintendo Switch And PC This Month

Previously available on iOS devices, developer Sunblink announced the console release of their open world adventure adaptation Hello Kitty Island Adventure last summer. Gematsu reports that the title will be released for the Nintendo Switch and PC on January 30. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions are planned for 2025, though a firm release date has not been set yet.

The setting of Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a group of abandoned islands and desolate theme park; You will play as Hello Kitty, a girl whose goal is to restore these islands and park. Some other playable characters include Kuromi, Badtz-Maru, Cinnamoroll, Chococat, Hangyodon, Pocchaco, Keroppl, and Tuxedosam.

Per an interview as Shacknews Interviews game director Tom Blind describes some of the challenges of drawing in a wider audience for the title “I do think that’s a small hurdle we have to have to seriously deal with, folks are like ‘oh it’s Hello Kitty, it’s probably just for young girls or whatever.’ But the reality is the different characters in the game, a diverse cast, Sanrio has a lot of interesting characters that can appeal to a lot of demographics. For example Aggretsuko, you know, that is a Netflix show that is more targeted towards adults and we were able to bring her in and make her a part of the game as well …”

Hello Kitty Island Adventure features five locations, character creation is available at any time. Decoration is a feature of ‘Friendship Cabins’ while playing multiplayer.

In 2023  Hello Kitty Island Adventure, on iOS devices received the Webby People’s Voice Award, Apple Arcade Game of the Year, and was nominated Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards; There is a clear desire for this beloved character in the game industry and it’s certainly not a coincidence that her most recent outing was so well received.
