Blizzard announced a new Halloween-themed event for Hearthstone titled Hallow’s End. The event will offer many unique features and new ways to play, starting off with the ability to host a Hallow’s End Fireside Gathering. These gatherings allow players to “get together with friends old and new to play Hearthstone in public gathering spots,” and can be created through the Fireside Gathering official website. Participating in gathering will be beneficial not only for spooky and fun social interactions, but also for the opportunity to add Hearthstone’s new warlock hero Nemsy Necrofizzle to your collection. Nemsy will only appear at properly established Fireside Gathering Taverns that participate in Fireside Brawls, which take place in a tag-team format this time around. Fireside Gathering Taverns only become established after players host “a Fireside Gathering that has at least three unique patrons in attendance.” Nemsy’s spooky demeanor and giant monstrous friend will definitely add to any Hearthstone fan’s deck, so creating an established gathering has its perks.
The Headless Horseman also joins in on the Hallow’s End fun from October 24 through November 6, through Tavern Brawls and treat distribution. The Horseman will hand out ‘creepy card packs’ and ‘arena tickets’ for logging in between certain time periods.
- Log in between Oct. 24 at 11:00 a.m. PDT and 10:00 p.m. PDT on Oct. 30 to receive one Whispers of the Old Gods card pack and an Arena ticket.
- Log in between Oct. 31 at 12:01 am PDT and 10:00 p.m. PST on Nov. 5 to receive one Knights of the Frozen Throne card pack and an Arena ticket.
The Horseman’s tavern brawl runs from October 25 through October 28, and heroes will wear a costume while participating. The costumes have their “own deck featuring cards from several classes and, for the first time, a passive Hero Power…,” and new card backs ‘Unholy’ and ‘Gone Fishing’ have been added. Each card can be acquired by reaching rank 20 in ranked play during October for the Unholy card back and November for the Gone Fishing card back.
Hallow’s End Dual Class Arena Mode invites classic Hearthstone heroes for more festivities, and of course they will be in costume. Arenas started during the Hallow’s End event will be completed using a “Hero, then a Hero power, and the cards offered in your picks will feature cards from BOTH of those classes, in addition to neutral cards.” Players will have to strategize, figuring out how to use these powers together during the Halloween-themed duels.
Hearthstone’s Hallow’s End event is currently available on PC and Mac.
