Healing Adventure RPG Witch’s Bakery Will Release August 20th

Due to the open-ended nature of guiding a character through the world a video game, RPGs offer some of the most drastically different of gameplay between titles. The upcoming game, The Witch’s Bakery, has decided to focus on healing, a common feature of the genre that is often overlooked in favor of other aspects. Developed by Sunny Lab and published by Silver Lining Interactive, the game recently received an official release date along with a trailer showing off the world and main character.

Set in Paris, The Witch’s Bakery follows a young witch named Lunne running a business designed to help people in emotional distress through good food and healing magic. The beginning of the trailer shows off a drawn animation of Lunne getting ready to head out. As she approaches a slouching individual, she puts her hands together and the game transitions into a puzzle where players need to guide a small flame through a maze that represents the customer’s damaged heart. According to the Steam page, these encounters will take place during the daytime when the shop is open and people come for the main character’s services.

In the evening, Lunne can explore the city and help her friends with their larger problems. During this time in the trailer, Lunne also meets a character named Mawuii, who she builds a connection with before entering the heart to traverse a train and help heal them. At night, players will have a chance to rest and decorate the bakery in anticipation of the coming day.

Story-driven RPGs are well known for causing players to empathize with their characters, and The Witch’s Bakery take this a step further by having that empathy be put to practice to solve their problems. The team has been giving consistent updates regarding the progress of the title, with the final update revealing the game’s release date of August 20th.
