Halo News: Update Details and Free Championship DLC

Halo 5‘s next expansion will be called “Ghosts of Meridian,” and 343 Industries has shared details about the early April release – namely, it will contain new weapons, weapon skis, helmets, armor, assassinations, emblems, and vehicles, along with a new Warzone map.

The new map “Skirmish at Darkstar” takes place on the world’s “charred surface” and allows players to “battle it out amidst scattered elements of colonial reclamation.” Below is concept art for the map:

The map’s biggest component is a derelict ship in the middle of the map “on the mining planet of Meridian,” which will surely be a key part of the gameplay experience. 343 promised more details surrounding the fiction of the map in a future Cannon Fodder update, and, for now, the team also included a screenshot from the Environment Art team.

Another goodie revealed was official concept art for the Hannibal Mantis, first seen in a live stream. No further details were given, but it already looks pretty sweet.

The Halo World Championship finals take place today at 4 PM PST/7 PM EST, and everyone who watches professional teams CLG and Team Allegiance duke it out via Twitch or through Xbox One will receive free Halo 5 Req pack.

The pack includes three Ultra Rare items: two pieces of “Challenger” gear and a Halo World Championship player emblem. Microsoft is also offering the digital copy of Halo 5: Guardians for $30, or the deluxe edition for $45 – both deals end tonight.
