Halo Infinite, Fable, & More Revealed During Xbox Games Showcase

After first revealing the first look at gameplay on Xbox Series X earlier this year, today, Microsoft has showcased the first look at titles from 9 of the 15 Xbox Games Studios. 5 new first-party games were unveiled during the event and every game shown is going to be on Xbox Game Pass. We got the first look at gameplay for Halo Infinite, updates on existing titles, and the official announcement of a game everybody assumed was in development but wasn’t officially revealed until today. Here’s the rundown of everything that was revealed during the Xbox Games Studios Showcase.

After teasing the next Halo over the past two E3 press conferences and revealing that Halo Infinite would be launching with Xbox Series X, today, Microsoft and 343 Industries shared the first look at campaign gameplay and showcased several new gameplay mechanics and weapons that players can look forward to later this fall.

State of Decay 3 was announced coming to Xbox Series X and PC. While no gameplay was revealed, we did get a look at a new type of enemy as infected animals look to be roaming the open world. Forza Motorsport, the next entry in the Forza series was announced. It will be available for Xbox Series X and PC.

During the Inside Xbox episode for X019, developer Rare announced Everwild, a new game coming to Xbox Series X and PC. A new trailer was revealed today showing more of the world and giving a sense of what kind of world the game is set in. Players will be cast as Eternals, beings who have the gift to sense and feel how magic flows through nature and connects every living thing.

Also announced at X019 was Tell Me Why,  the next game from DONTNOD Entertainment, the developers of the Life is Strange series. The new trailer reveals more of the story as two siblings attempt to uncover a mystery from their past. The first chapter releases on August 27 for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.

Moon Studios revealed that Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be getting an upgrade for Xbox Series X that will make the game run at 120 fps in 4k with HDR. It will be out later this year.

The Outer Worlds is getting DLC. The first DLC, Peril on Gorgon introduces a new world that players can explore and is coming later this year on September 9. While the base game is available on Xbox Game Pass. Peril on Gorgon is sold separately. Game Pass members get a 10% discount. A new trailer for Grounded was also showcased, showing off more of the world and enemies players will have to contend with. The game is available on July 28 as part of the Xbox Game Preview program and will also be available on Steam Early Access. Obsidian also announced Avowed, a new first-person RPG coming to Xbox Series X and PC.

As Dusk Falls is a new, original, interactive drama from new studio Interior/ Night. The reveal trailer showcases a very unique art style as the trailer shifts between two characters and their struggles. The game takes place in the American Southwest and the story will span 30 years. Caroline Marchal, Founder and Creative Director at Interior Night said that “it’s a story about family, resilience, and sacrifice. But most of all, it’s about how you will shape the fate of real, flawed people trying to find their way in a world they don’t fit in.”

Developer Ninja Theory revealed that Senua’s Sacrifice: Hellblade II, is set in Iceland and more details about how the developer created the setting for the game can be found in their latest developer diary. A new trailer for Psychonauts 2 reveals a new location and that Jack Black will be a part of the game as well.

Destiny 2 is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass. In addition, every expansion that has been released for the game will be available for Game Pass subscribers to play in September. This also includes Destiny 2: Beyond Light, the next expansion which will be available for Xbox Game Pass on November 10.

New trailers were revealed for Stalker 2, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Tetris Effect: Connected, The Gunk, The Medium, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, and Crossfire X. All of these games will be console launch exclusives for Xbox.

Microsoft said that more news will be shared later in the year as not every Xbox Game Studios developer was shown off during this event. Microsoft also noted that all of these games including some that are already out like Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, and Sea of Thieves will get the next-gen upgrades for Xbox Series X through Smart Delivery.

Lastly, Playground Games officially announced Fable, a reboot of the popular RPG series which has been long rumored to be in development.
