Halo: Infinite was recently confirmed for E3 2019. During an interview Bonnie Ross, the head of 343 Industries, stated that game directory Chris Lee will have more details to reveal about the title this year. As to what he will be discussing is mostly still a mystery at this point, but Ross did confirm that one of the topics Lee will talk expand upon are the technical capabilities of the SlipSpace engine.
The game was revealed last year at E3 during the Microsoft Conference where they displayed a trailer showcasing the new engine that the game is being developed on. After the initial reveal many wondered why the development team went with an entirely new engine instead of using the one from Halo 4 and 5. Ross commented that “The Halo engine is a very technical, engineering-focused engine. It’s super hard for creatives to work in. It’s super hard for a lot of creatives to work in at one time,” said Ross.
With this in mind 343 Industries has spent time creating the Slipspace engine for not only Halo: Infinite but for the overall future of the series. The game is said to be a spiritual successor to the series and the development team is taking the feedback from previous titles mistakes in order to make sure that Halo: Infinite surpasses in all aspects of play.
In addition to this it was also been reported that Microsoft will be revealing two new Xbox Consoles at this year’s E3. It has also been rumored that Halo: Infinite will be a launch title for next generation Xbox consoles. With Sony opting out of the big convention this go around it looks like Microsoft will be going all in with big reveals. With the big show only being 100 days away fans don’t have that long of a wait before we see what Microsoft has in store for us.
