If you own an Xbox, you should know all about Master Chief and his action packed adventure we all have been playing for little over 13 years now, starting with the original release of Halo: Combat Evolved back in November 2001. 343 industries has released not one, but two new cryptic live action trailers for Halo 5, which will be the latest installment in the Halo franchise. Each trailer runs for one minute and twenty three seconds exactly and show two very different stories. Let me tell you, in that short amount of time they can make any fan pumped for this game to be released and learn more about the story.
With the announcement of Halo 5 back at E3 2013 they had shown a picture of another Spartan; nothing at the time was known about this Spartan. A lot of questions were asked after the announcement; is he friend or foe? Is he a playable character? Will Cortona make an appearance? Well along with the two trailers they made a few announcements to go with them. Locke, the new Spartan, is a foe (or is he?) and will be going head to head with Master Chief. He will also be a playable character, which will not be the first time where we see two stories in one game. In Halo 2 you played as Master Chief and during certain levels as the Arbiter. Finally, Cortona will be making an appearance, but that is all they have said for the time being on that, I wouldn’t expect to learn any more on that detail till you play the game.
The two trailers alone though will leave you thirsty for more details on Halo 5; they are short but leave you asking a lot of questions. In Master Chief’s trailer you hear him saying “Is everything you compromised, everything you’ve done worth it? Was it? You completed your mission Spartan Locke, mine is just beginning.” If that doesn’t confuse you and make you want more, well go check Spartan Locke’s trailer.
Lockes trailer is very similar to Master Chiefs, but Locke does all the talking, in his trailer you can hear him saying “As our savior, not our betrayer, let us seem him forever as you and not as you. All hail the conquering hero, the one that was suppose to save us all, but now I must save us… from you.” Check out both trailers here, Master Chief’s trailer is above and Spartan Locke’s is below.
E3 2015 is only a few months away and I’m sure we are eager to learn more about the rivalry between those two since the game should not be coming out till fall of this year. In the meantime you can go back and play all of Master Chiefs story in the latest installment Halo Master Chief Collection, which was released on November of 2014.
