For those who are unfamiliar with The Witcher franchise, it is a world engulfed in an endless war with monsters lurking from the edge of the woods to the corner of city streets. Individuals known as Witchers track down monsters and slay them for a hefty sum of coin. Witchers are split into different schools: the way of the Griffin, Bear, Cat, Wolf, Salamander, and Snake.
Gwent in The Witcher‘s universe is a card game designed for strategic planning and patient players. The game consists of fan-favorite characters that have a designated number and abilities. The goal of the game is to have a higher number of cards than your opponent at the end of each round. To be a master of Gwent you must add careful planning to the mix; if you play all of your cards before the last round, you’re out of luck.
CD Projekt Red announced yesterday that they are planning to add onto their free game GWENT: The Witcher Card Game with a new expansion called Gwent: Way of the Witcher. The Way of The Witcher will see the addition of a vast number of powerful cards for players to use in the game. The expansion is currently available for pre-order on the official website here. Fans of the Witcher universe should also be excited for another Witcher themed game in development, The Witcher: Monster Slayer. In this new game, the player will be their own witcher that sets out into the world to hunt down monsters for coin.
