Gwent Gets a Holiday “Saovine” Update and Event

Just in time for Halloween, CD Projekt Red has introduced a new update for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. The “Saovine” update added twenty-one new cards, rolled out a few balancing changes, and kicked off the game’s second holiday event – Saovine: Holiday of the Dead.

“Elven tradition holds on Saovine’s eve the dead crawl out of their graves and demand food,” CD Projekt Red wrote. “The Toussaintais do not believe in such superstitions – yet this year, they were about to see the legends contain a grain of truth…Join us in Toussaint, on the eve of Saovine and survive the night when fear and horror come out to play! Once again we have prepared three challenges and puzzles on two difficulty levels. For completing them you will be able to earn a unique player avatar, frame, and title, and claim additional Ore and Meteorite Powder.”

A majority of the new cards added are neutral golds, and for the first three days following the update’s release, the Harpy and Restore cards will “have increased value for milling.” This means that “the cards on the list, when milled, will create an amount of scraps and powder equal to the amount of scraps and powder needed to craft a card of the same value.” For a full list of changes, you can see the patch notes here. You can also get a look at the update with a Gwent developers’ Twitch stream below:

The “Saovine” event will run from October 31st to November 21st. The Gwent open beta is available now on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
