Microsoft announced that Skyforge, new free-to-play action mmorpg would be coming to the Xbox One this November. This launch comes just in time for the new Xbox One X release on November 7, which will have updated graphics, power, memory and more in comparison to older Xbox One models.
Skyforge takes place on the planet Aelion which is constantly plagued by invasions by surrounding planets. The god Aeli protected Aelion and its inhabitants, but vanished leaving his power and knowledge behind for chosen warriors to use. These warriors must continue to protect Aelion in Aeli’s absence, fighting off invaders to maintain peace.
Players will take on the role of chosen warrior, and have a choice between 15 unlockable classes to master on their journey. Each class has their own unique moves, abilities, armor sets and more, and as players progress, additional content will be unlocked for each class such as ultimate abilities and a ‘Divine Form’ as a god. No matter the class, there will be multiple modes to choose from when deciding the best path for the game; classic PvE and PvP modes can be used “in over 100 locations,” and the game has a Campaign Mode which will likely focus on the primary storyline.
The Skyforge Xbox One announcement trailer gives a brief glimpse into the graphics of the game, which will look even better with the new Xbox One X console specs. Skyforge features a mix of sci-fi and fantasy elements, with many types of monsters, magical attacks, futuristic weapons, space ships and more. Environments appear to be expansive and detailed, with outstretching grasslands, giant stone temples, sandy dry lands, foggy wetlands, and large invader ships. Every environment has its own look and feel accompanied by a wide array of opponents.
Players looking to get a bit of a head start in Skyforge can purchase exclusive preorder bonus packs as well. The $14.99 Standard Founder Pack gives early access to the game, 10,000 Argents (in-game currency) and seven days of premium subscription. Purchasing $29.99 Deluxe Founder or $79.99 Gold Founder packs gives more Argents and premium days, unlocks classes and unlocks an exclusive glider mount (Gold Founder Pack only).
Skyforge is currently available for PC and PlayStation 4, and will be released for Xbox One on November 24. There has not been an announcement about the game supporting cross-platform play, but it is unlikely to happen considering Skyforge PS4 players cannot play with Skyforge PC players currently.
