Arc System Works has revealed the next step for new content and updates in regards to their current fighting title Guilty Gear Strive. The company has announced that they will be incorporating all of the Season 1 content and putting into an updated version of the game that will be dubbed Guilty Gear Strive Starter Edition. As of this writing, the Starter Edition is only slated to release in the title’s native Japan, but hopefully Arc System Works will port this edition to other regions as well.
In addition to this, Arc System Works also revealed that they will be releasing a large-scale balance update on June 10. This massive update is intended to re-balance all characters, change some of the game mechanics, and improve control movements. On top of that, the company also announced an upcoming cross-platform beta test which will include the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, giving all players of the aforementioned platforms the chance to not only try out the game but to play across different systems as well. The beta test is slated to commence this Summer, but no further information was given.
Guilty Gear Strive initially launched last year on June 11, 2021, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam. One of the most anticipated fighting games of the year, it was critically acclaimed upon release and wound up winning Best Fighting Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021. It also sold more than 500 thousand copies after being available for a little more than a month, solidifying it as one of the most successful IPs of 2022. The game is also highly regarded in the fighting game community, which was emphasized by its placement in the EVO 2022 lineup and is slated to commence this August.
