For those patiently waiting on the next entry of the Guilty Gear franchise, we have some good news for you. Arc System Works has announced that there will be an open beta test for the upcoming Guilty Gear Strive and it will be on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. In addition, the company also states that players will be able to play with others in online matches and offline against AI opponents or local players, something that a lot of open beta’s don’t usually offer.
As you can see in the tweet above, the beta will commence later this month from February 18-21. On top of that, if you pre-ordered the game digitally you’ll be given access to the beta a day early on February 17, making this a five-day beta overall. The online modes that will be available include standard matchmaking with ranked fights and quick start fights. For the offline modes, you’ll be able to play standard versus against both AI and local players, as well as the tutorial and normal training. Arc System Works is also making 13 fighters from the roster available to play with, which is quite a bit considering that this is an open beta test.
As we’ve mentioned before, Guilty Gear: Strive was originally slated to launch last year but was delayed due to the worldwide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Arc System Works has been slowly teasing new fighters every now and then, including Anji Mito who was unveiled on the very first day of this year. Unfortunately, the company did state that Mito would not be available during the open beta test. Our deepest condolences to those looking forward to those glistening abs. Thankfully, the game is scheduled to release in just a couple of months, so we won’t be waiting long to get our hands on all of the fighters, new and old.
Guilty Gear Strive will officially launch on April 9, 2021, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam.
