Guerrilla Games Working On New Project With Rainbow Six: Siege Talent

Guerrilla Games, with the likes of Killzone and the critically acclaimed Horizon: Zero Dawn under its belt, is perhaps one of Sony’s most valuable assets in the modern era. As a first-party developer for Sony, Guerrilla is known for its high-quality, polished, and narrative-driven games that consistently push sales. It became quite a huge deal, then, when observant members of Resetera (reported via PushSquare), noticed industry movements through LinkedIn that major talent from the Rainbow Six: Siege team has been poached by the Dutch-based company to work on a brand new title.

Simon Larouche, the previous game director for Tom Clancy’s fairly popular siege-based multiplayer game, has apparently been working at Guerrilla since February of this year. Even more cryptic is the description Larouche has written on LinkedIn stating that he is the new Game Director for a project titled “Secret Game is Secret!” Joining him is fellow Siege alum Chris Lee, who has taken up the role of Principle Game Designer in Amsterdam.

This transition isn’t too surprising, given Larouche has worked at Guerrilla before. Years ago, he was part of the team that made Killzone 2, one of the flagship titles for the Playstation 3 a whole generation back. However, there is still much speculation regarding why Guerrilla chose this specific team from which to grab talent, since its last title was solely focused on the single player experience.

Perhaps Guerrilla wants to return to its roots with a streamlined multiplayer experience. Or maybe it hopes to add a substantial online component to its next big project. Whatever the case, this news is already making waves in the online community, as Horizon had successfully launched the already well-known company into the pantheon of beloved studios alongside Nintendo, Rockstar Games, Naughty Dog, and the like.

Gamers can only wait on in anticipation until Guerrilla formally announces the title. But with PSX cancelled this year, they might have to wait even longer.
