GTA VI’s First Trailer Breaks Viewing Records, Becomes Most-Viewed Game Reveal & Most-Viewed Non-Music Video On YouTube In 24 Hours

To no one’s surprise, the first look at the next GTA was going to be something special, as it always seems to be with Rockstar Games. Following a leak, Rockstar eventually decided to change its plans and release of the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto early. Since then, in less than two days, it has already surpassed GTA V’s reveal with more than 100 million views, something that took over the last 12 years to achieve. Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer has become the most-viewed game reveal and the most-viewed non-music video on YouTube with over 93 million views in 24 hours.

To put things in perspective, after 15 hours, the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer had more views than the reveal trailers of Cyberpunk 2077 (28.6 million), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (16.1 million), and Rockstar’s last game, Red Dead Redemption 2 (23.1 million) combined. It also beats out the trailers for Hogwarts Legacy at 34.2, Baldur’s Gate 3 at 2.7, Final Fantasy 16 at 4.6, Resident Evil 4 Remake at 3.1, God of War Ragnarok at 19.4, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at 30.8 million.

After the trailer’s release, Guinness World Records confirmed that the GTA VI trailer is the most viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours.

“The Grand Theft Auto series has been at the epicenter of entertainment for decades and we expect the YouTube community and its creators to reach new heights for years to come with Grand Theft Auto VI,” said Leo Olebe, Global Head of YouTube Gaming. “Setting this new all-time record is a testament to the cultural impact of the series and demonstrates why YouTube is the leading destination for gaming content and pop culture.”

The trailer also broke Mr Beast’s record as the most viewed non-music video on YouTube in 24 hours, something Mr Beast noted himself.

Per Rockstar GamesGrand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.

The game will release in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
