GTA Online’s New Cunning Stunts Update Drops July 12th

Grand Theft Auto V‘s online multiplayer has managed to stay impressively entertaining for an impressively long amount of time, thanks to Rockstar’s consistent release of free updates, adding everything from yachts and gold airplanes to lowrider cars. Now, the newest update will allow players to truly harness their inner Evel Knievel.

Cunning Stunts drops July 12th, adding a whole new dimension of Stunt Races that were previously only attainable through some sick modded tracks. Players will be able to shred through loops and tubes, launch off ramps with the help of speed strips, and “speed through gigantic rings of fire.” The trailer itself features stomach-churning loops, deadly windmills, and shenanigans involving massive bowling pins and the Vinewood sign.

Races will be tailored to “match the attributes of specific vehicle classes” – and it isn’t a GTA update without some sick new Super cars, Sports cars and Motorbikes in the mix. Naturally, a whole host of motocross gear, racing suits, helmets, and other stunt driver threads will be released as well.

Some highlights include the new speed strips, a Mario Kart-esque departure from the game’s standard Boosts, shown in action in a race tube.

Cunning Stunts will certainly give players plenty of new opportunities for impressive pics and videos, with new races that offer breathtaking views of Downtown Los Santos, or sick action shots of cars smashing together mid-air. The race suits themselves already look like a perfect billboard advertisement from the 70s.

Rockstar themselves aren’t providing much in terms of details, probably because this is simply an official version of what players have been cobbling together for some time now. There’s no word, for example, whether these new additions will be available within Creator mode, or if it’ll take some clever hacking and modding to at least make them available for PC players.

Much like their DIY predecessors, however, these new Races are sure to make for some excellent YouTube videos, and this update looks like it’ll be far from boring.
