Grand Theft Auto V PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S Details Revealed, Set For Release On March 15

We’ve known that a next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V was coming at some point. Last year, Rockstar revealed that the next-gen versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S would be coming this month. Today, Rockstar revealed more details about what players can expect from Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S. The next-gen version is set to launch later this month on March 15.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Grand Theft Auto V will bring high-end PC visuals to the console experience with new graphics modes and using the technical advancements of the latest console hardware for faster loading times, immersive 3D audio, support for platform-specific features, and more.

There will be three graphics modes that players can choose from, Fidelity, Performance, and Performance RT. Fidelity gives the highest visual quality and targets 30 FPS. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will support native 4k resolution with ray tracing enabled. The Xbox Series S supports upscaled 4K resolution. Performance mode targets 60 FPS. In this mode, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X supports upscaled 4k resolution while the Xbox Series S supports 1080p resolution. The Performance RT mode is only supported for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It’s a hybrid of the Fidelity and Performance modes supporting upscaled 4K resolution with ray tracing and targeting 60 FPS.

In addition to the faster loading times, the new version will have increased population and traffic variety, increased vegetation density, improved quality across shadows, water reflections, and other elements. With the DualSense, players can experience new sensations to weather effects, directional damage, rough road surfaces, explosions and more. The game will also feature immersive audio using Tempest 3D audio on PlayStation 5 and Spatial Sound on Xbox Series X|S.

Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S also brings in Grand Theft Auto Online to the next-generation of consoles. Grand Theft Auto Online will become available for the first time on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. For the first three months from launch, GTA Online will be available to download and keep for free for PlayStation 5 players. Rockstar also introduces a new Career Builder feature that’s designed for new players or anyone returning who wants to reset their character and get a fresh start. Career Builder grants players GTA $4,000,000 so they can get things like business properties, vehicles, and weapons.

Improvements for Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S include a newly designed introduction and tutorial for new players, a new front-end Main Menu that allows players to jump directly into Freemode, Heists, Races, Adversary Modes, the latest featured weekly event content, and more.

Transfers for Story Mode and GTA Online character progression can be made starting today by uploading a save to the Rockstar Games Social Club. Only one save per platform can be stored at a time. It’ll be available to download for 90 days.
