Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition Finally Gets Updated On PC And Consoles

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, a remastered collection of Rockstar’s first three GTA games, GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas, released back in 2021. However, it wasn’t the launch many were looking for with many criticizing the game for various graphical issues, bugs, and progression crashes. Eventually, the game came to mobile in much better state with many praising the port for fixing the issues that were found in the original launch. Now, Rockstar has released a new update for the PC and console versions of the game adding the visual features that were exclusive to the mobile version.

The big thing that came with the update is a classic lighting mode option which was added to the mobile versions was they were released last year. However, it isn’t the only thing that players have noticed that Rockstar doesn’t mention in the patch notes. One user on X/Twitter says that they’ve discovered things like new fire, rain, fog, and glass-breaking effects, new and fixed animations, extra bloom and lighting effects, and more.

Players can also now run while aiming certain weapons, pause cutscenes,  see date/time information on game saves, view their correct position on the world map, and more.

These weren’t the only things players noticed. Grove Street Games was the main developer behind The Definitive Edition. You would see their name along with Rockstar as the game launches on a splash screen. Now, with the update, their name has been removed.

Many were quick to point out that they haven’t been removed entirely from the game, just the splash screen. Both Grove Street Games and Video Games Deluxe who worked on the mobile port are in the final credits.

Regardless of this, Grove Street Games Studio Head Thomas Williamson didn’t take kindly to the new update even though many have noted that Grove Street Games is still in the credits.

Paul David Nuñez: I love to escape my reality with books, music, television, movies, and games. If I'm not doing anything important, I'm probably doing one of these things. P.S. The Matrix Has You
