Yesterday, several games became available for Google Stadia, Google’s video game streaming service, including Dragonball Xenoverse 2 and Borderlands 3. Today was also the launch of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, the first game that utilizes Stadia’s Stream Connect feature which allows players to see their friend’s perspectives as a picture-in-picture display.
While expanding their library of games has become a hot topic this past year, Stadia has had issues with several of their games since the service launched. Many were vocal about the fact that games such as Destiny 2 and Red Dead Redemption II weren’t streaming in 4k 60fps as they were supposed to. Google clarified the issue saying that it’s up to the developers to make it possible on their platform.
Now, Borderlands 3 is making headlines on Stadia for a different reason. The version that is on Stadia is not the most current, up-to-date version of the game.
Gearbox said: “We aim to achieve feature parity for all versions of Borderlands 3 early in 2020, but for the moment the version of the game that you play on Stadia has benefitted from the updates and fixes that were released through October 24.” This also means that certain features available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One are not available on Stadia right now. “Noteworthy features coming soon to the Stadia version of Borderlands 3 include endgame content like the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite and Mayhem 4 difficulty, dedicated loot pools for bosses, and additional bank space.”
Borderlands 3 is available for Stadia at a special launch price for a limited time. Players on Stadia will be getting the game’s first campaign add-on, Moxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot in 2020. It launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One tomorrow, December 19. The campaign is about how you will help Moxi break into the Handsome Jackpot, a casino that she and Handsome Jack built together. She sees this as a way to get back at Jack once and for all, but standing in the way of her ambitions are Loader bots which are enemies that haven’t been dealt with since Borderlands 3.
