The developers of Golem, side-scrolling puzzle-adventure game, have just released the game’s first gameplay trailer. This first-look depicts the story of a young girl and her shape-shifting friend. Made by the same creators behind Hegemony, the world inside Golem is ancient, and filled with puzzles residing within a mysterious tower.
The young girl who the players follow sets off on an adventure in which she must explore the tower, and reactivate all of the machines inside of it. The developers at Longbow Games have revealed that Golem will feature ten different levels that are set across various environments. These levels will be filled with puzzles that require unique abilities to solve properly. As puzzles are solved, the mysteries of the machines are revealed, which depict the stories of the individuals who had built them. Players learn early on that there is a mysterious golem at the center of their journey who becomes a pivotal part of the adventure. The golem contains five different unique evolutions that each bring new useful abilities that the player can utilize for puzzle solving. The world is also littered with cryptic pictographs that reveal clues pertaining to the golem and origins of the world.
This is the first time that Longbow Games are tackling a unique story-based platformer, with their previous title utilizing a completely different approach. This is their first time focusing intensely on character development, and as such, have tailored the world they reside in around those character’s unique stories.
Golem is projected to release on Steam this spring.
