The new God Of War is geared to give the beloved PlayStation exclusive series a huge revamp, and it’s got longtime fans pretty excited! We first got news of the game back at E3 2016 by way of a dramatic trailer that showed off combat, new game mechanics, weapons, characters, an early 2018 release window, and most importantly: Kratos sporting a beard.
Since the game’s initial reveal, fans haven’t gotten many more peaks at the game except for a couple more trailers. It seemed as if the developers were pretty tight-lipped about the title, but yesterday PlayStation was nice enough to release a brand new trailer for the game along with it’s long awaited release date! The trailer was a story-driven one and seemed to be focused on Kratos and his relationship with his son, whom we will be able to control in certain parts of the game, and is sure to play a big role within the story.
It appears that Kratos is keeping his violent past, among other things, hidden from his son, and that overcoming the conflict that this breeds will be one of the major arcs within the game. This, combined with a whole new environment to explore, new characters to meet, and a whole new hierarchy of gods to take down, is what this revamp brings to the series.
The trailer also shows off some intriguing and strange new characters, as well as some of the new realm that Kratos and company will be entering through a few intense cutscenes. It looks like fans will have quite a bit to look forward to with the new God of War, which will be releasing for the PlayStation 4 on April 20, 2018.
