GhostWire: Tokyo Gameplay Trailer Revealed

The PlayStation 5 reveal event was jam-packed with exclusive trailers and gameplay footage for a number of upcoming next-gen releases. Among them was a gameplay trailer for GhostWire: Tokyo, showing off eye-catching PlayStation 5 graphics and effects. The game is set to launch in 2021 as a  timed console exclusive. Players will be taken on an action-adventure as they fight off creepy looking spirits to uncover a mystery and save Tokyo. The game is being developed by Tango Gameworks who s known for similarly unsettling titles like The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2.

The trailer implores the player to “face the unknown” after some very cryptic messages narrated by an ominous female voice. She recites “You see things others can’t. Hear threats others don’t. Fight when others won’t. It’s up to you save Tokyo.” A just as ominous laugh echoes as a headless girl woman creeps toward the camera. Combat shown in the footage consists of creepy supernatural foes like a faceless man endowed with a suit and umbrella. The main character takes advantage of powerful technology and elemental abilities to defeat enemies.

The gameplay is from a first-person perspective, with cinematic shots that showcase the game’s stellar design and animation. Such was the same in their reveal trailer at last years E3, which painted similarly mysterious and creepy narrative. That trailer focused more on the dread that has overcome Tokyo and put the possibilities of next-gen graphics on full display. Since then, the former creative and art director for Tango Gameworks announced she was leaving the company and the game after a cheerful appearance E3 2019. Many speculated if the game would be canceled, but development continued with Shinji Mikami, creative director for The Evil Within, taking over in her place.

There is no exact release date yet for GhostWire: Tokyo just yet, but more information is available at GhostWire.com.
